Musnad Uthman ibn Affan

مُسْنَدُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حُرَيْثُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ، يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنِي حُمْرَانُ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ سِوَى ظِلِّ بَيْتٍ وَجِلْفِ الْخُبْزِ وَثَوْبٍ يُوَارِي عَوْرَتَهُ وَالْمَاءِ فَمَا فَضَلَ عَنْ هَذَا فَلَيْسَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ فِيهِ حَقٌّ‏.‏

English Translation

It was narrated from ‘Uthman bin `Affan (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to said:

`Everything apart from the shade of a house, a sack of bread, a garment to cover his `awrah and water, anything more than that the son of Adam has no right to.”
