Musnad 'Ali Ibn Abi Talib

وَمِنْ مُسْنَدِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ

حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏{‏وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ‏}‏ يَقُولُ شُكْرَكُمْ ‏{‏أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ‏}‏ تَقُولُونَ مُطِرْنَا بِنَوْءِ كَذَا وَكَذَا بِنَجْمِ كَذَا وَكَذَا. حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ رَفَعَهُ ‏{‏وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ‏}‏ قَالَ مُؤَمَّلٌ قُلْتُ لِسُفْيَانَ إِنَّ إِسْرَائِيلَ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ صِبْيَانٌ صِبْيَانٌ‏.‏

English Translation

It was narrated from `Ali (رضي الله عنه) that The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“And instead (of thanking Allah) for the provision He gives you, you deny (Him by disbelief)` : you say, ‘We were given rain by such-and-such a star.” It was narrated from `Ali, in a marfoo’ report: `And instead (of thanking Allah) for the provision He gives you` . Muʼammal said: I said to Sufyan: Isra`eel narrated it in a marfoo` report (i.e., attributed to the Prophet (ﷺ). He said: Boys, boys.
