The Book of Cutting off the Hand of the Thief

Arabic Text

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم - قَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم - يَقْطَعُ فِي رُبُعِ دِينَارٍ فَصَاعِدًا ‏.‏

English Translation

It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Messenger of Allah" (one of the narrators) Qutaibah said:

'Used to cut off the hand of the thief for one-quarter of a Dinar or more."
